It focused on the prevalence of internet fraud, the involvement of young individuals, and the negative consequences for the nation's reputation and economy. The introduction emphasised the importance of understanding how parenting styles shaped adolescent behaviour, values, and involvement in internet fraud. The problem statement outlined the societal challenges posed by internet fraud, including the erosion of trust, economic damage, and the potential breakdown of law and order, while highlighting the conflict between internet fraud and the ‘omoluabi’ culture of Southwestern Nigeria, which valued honesty and integrity. The research aimed to explore the relationship between parental roles and adolescent involvement in internet fraud, particularly examining how authoritative, permissive, and authoritarian parenting styles influenced adolescents' exposure to and likelihood of engaging in such activities. The significance of the study lay in its potential to inform policy development and interventions aimed at preventing adolescent involvement in internet fraud in Nigeria, offering insights for community-based solutions. The scope centred on parents with children aged 12-19 in Ede South Local Government Area, Osun State, a region with a high rate of internet fraud involving universities and secondary schools.
