Adeola Adedoyin ADEBAYO2024-06-112024-06-112023-12M.EDhttps://repository.lcu.edu.ng/handle/123456789/479The study investigated personality types and job satisfaction as correlates of English Language teachers’ effectiveness in senior secondary schools in Oyo State, Nigeria. The descriptive survey research design was adopted. The Multistage sampling procedure was used for sample selection in the study. Two thousand, nine hundred and thirty-five (2935) students and one hundred and eighty (180) English Language teachers were used as sample for the study. The Teachers’ Personality Traits and Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (TPTJSQ) (α= 0.87 and Perception of Students on Teachers’ Teaching Effectiveness Questionnaire (PSTTEQ) (α= 0.91). Descriptive statistical tools including frequency distribution, percentage, and mean was used to answer the research question while inferential statistics of the Pearson’s product moment correlation was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that English Language teachers personality type in Oyo State are extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness the level of job satisfaction of English Language teachers in Oyo State is high (x̅=3.05); the level of teaching effectiveness among English Language teachers in Oyo State is moderate (x̅=3.13). The multiple regression correlation coefficient indicate the influence between the predictor variables religion, age and gender 0.105. The adjusted R square is 0.051. The F (3, 50) = 1.954, where p > 0.05. The multiple regression correlation coefficient indicate the influence between the predictor variables Personality types 0.110 and the adjusted R square is 0.024. The F (5, 52) = 1.280, where p > 0.05, multiple regression correlation coefficient indicate the influence between the predictor variables teachers’ Job Satisfaction 0.360, the adjusted R square is 0.027. The F (6, 51) = 1.268 where p > 0.05. The study recommended that government and educational administrators should use appropriate strategies such as prompt payment of salaries, promotion and in-service training to improve the job satisfaction of secondary school teachers in Oyo State.
