Item Entrepreneurship Development and Employment Generation in Egbeda Local Government, Oyo State, Nigeria.(Lead City University, 2022-12) Adetomiwa Adeniji ADEFIOYE; Kabir Olayemi OLADEPOThis study evaluates the effects Entrepreneurship Development on Employment Generation using Egbeda local government of Oyo state, Nigeria as a case study, and it tested how significantly entrepreneurship financing and education affects employment contraction and expansion respectively. A review of literatures on the above mentioned variables and how it pertains to Egbeda local government of Oyo state, Nigeriawas done. “Schumpeter Effect” that believes “increase in entrepreneurship decreases unemployment” combined with the Keynesian theory were the basic theories used in this study. The study adopted a survey research design. The population of the study included 242 entrepreneurs with SMEs in Egbeda local government of Oyo state, Nigeria. Simple random sampling technique was used for selection and the sample size was reduced to a manageable size of 134 entrepreneurs using the Taro-Yamane expression. Questionnaires were administered and the data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that entrepreneurship financing explains 30.9% of the decrease in employment contraction and entrepreneurship education explains 59.1% of the increase in employment expansion at Egbeda local government of Oyo state, Nigeria. It was therefore concluded that just as entrepreneurship development is a key indicator in the employment generation situation of Egbeda local government of Oyo state, Nigeriaso it is many other parts of Nigeria. It is therefore expedient for relevant government authorities in charge of labour and employment to foster an environment that is entrepreneurship friendly so as to curb unemployment and drive economic development.
