Item Effect of a Six-week Dry-land Resistance Training on Swimming Endurance of Swimmers in Lead City International School, Ibadan, Nigeria(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Adebimpe Rukayat OLALERE; Solomon Adekunle ADEYANJU; Olawale Oluwaseun OLADAPOSwimming performance is a diverse activity combining energy, kinetic, motor control, anthropometrics, and swimming strength. The use of dry land training for swimmers has received little to no attention in several Nigerian researches. Therefore, this study interest was to examine the effects of a 6-week dry-land resistance training on swimming endurance of swimmers in Lead City International School Ibadan. Pretest-posttest control group experimental research design using matched participants with a 2x2 factorial matrix was adopted for this study. Fifty-two swimmers were selected to take part in the study. The participants were assigned into control group (26) and experimental group (26). Experimental group were made to go through six weeks dry-land resistance training Programme, while the control group were made to undergo 20 minutes of benefits of exercise lesson for six weeks. Data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics of Analysis of Co-variance (ANCOVA). The result revealed that there was a significant main effect of treatment on 2 swimming endurance(F =102.087, p<0.05, ç =0.676) of swimmers. Also, there was no significant (1,49) 2 main effect of sex on swimming endurance(F =0.718, p>0.05, ç =0.401). Furthermore, there was no (1,49) significant interaction effect of treatment by sex on swimming Endurance(F =5.524, p<0.05, (1,47) 2 ç =0.023). It was concluded that resistance training on dry-land improved swimmers' swimming abilities. Therefore, it was suggested that coaches be taught on the advantages of adopting dry-land training to enhance swimming performance. Also, dry-land resistance training should be used by swimming instructor so as to reduce swimming injuries.Item Effect of an 8-Week Whole Body Vibration and Stretching Exercise on Low Back Pain among Law Enforcement Corps in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Happy Onuwa OBENYEOKWU; Solomon Adekunle ADEYANJU; Olawale Oluwaseun OLADAPOThis study investigated the effectsof an 8-week whole body vibration and stretching exercise on low back pain among law enforcement corps in Ibadan Oyo State, Nigeria. Ninety law enforcement corps were divided into three groups of two experimental and one control group. The experimental groups' went through 8-week whole body vibration and stretching exercise, while the control group were placed on 8-week Fitness talk. Data was analyzed using both Descriptive andAnalysis of Co variance. The study revealed that there was significant main effect oftreatment ofWhole body vibration, 2 stretching exercise and control on low back pain(F = 74.405, p<0.05, ç =0.634), also, there was (4,87) 2 significant main effect of whole body vibration on low back pain(F = 45.409, p<0.05, ? =0.514). (2,86) 2 Also, there was significant main effect of stretching exercise on low back pain (F(2,86) = 6.601, p>0.05, ç = 0.133), however, there was no significant main effect of treatment and gender on low back pain(F(2,83) 2 = 0.011, p<0.05, ç = 0.00). Finally, there was a significant main effect of treatment, gender and age on 2 low back pain(F = 6.723, p<0.05, ç = 0.170). It was concluded that whole body vibration was more (6,84) effective than stretching exercise on low back pain. The researcher recommends that Federal, state government and stakeholder should support and fund law enforcement corps due to the nature of their work regular provision of kits, also, training and re-training on stretching exercises and whole body vibration on ameliorating the effect of low back pain.Item Effect of Dance-exercise and Brisk-walking on Anthropometric and Cardiorespiratory Indices of Obese Undergraduates in Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria(Lead City University, 2022-12) Olawale Oluwaseun OLADAPOThe aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of dance-exercise and brisk-walking on the anthropometric and cardiorespiratory indices of obese Undergraduates in Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria. The population for this study consisted 60 obese who were purposively sampled through randomized experimental Pretest-posttest control group design. The participants were required to Dance-exercise and Brisk-walk 3 times a week and 50 minutes per session at 100-120bpm for 8 weeks. Analysis of Co-variance (ANCOVA) and T-test were used to test the hypotheses formulated at 0.05 level of significance. Result showed that there was no significant main effect of treatments on the anthropometric indices (F(2,36)= 1.260, p<0.05, η2=0. 296) of obese undergraduates but a significant treatment effect on Body Mass Index (BMI) among obese undergraduates. Also, there was a significant main effect of treatments (F(2,36)=3.442, p<0.05, η2=0.043) on the ardiorespiratory indices of obese undergraduates. Furthermore, the result shows that there was no significant main effect of sex on the anthropometric (F(1,37)=2.922, p>0.05, η 2=0.073) and Cardiorespiratory (F(1,37)=0.598, p>0.05, η 2=0.016 indices of obese undergraduates. Result shows that there was no significant interaction effect of treatments and sex on the anthropometric (F(2,33)=1.405, p>0.05, η2=0.078) and cardiorespiratory (F(2,33)=0.063, p>0.05, η 2=0.004) indices of obese undergraduates in Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria.. The study concluded that Dance-exercise and Brisk-walking are exercise modes that can bring positive changes in the anthropometric and cardiorespiratory indices of obese participants. It was further concluded that sex was not a determinant of the outcome of Dance-exercise and Brisk-walking exercise modes on anthropometric as well as cardiorespiratory indices of obese undergraduate in this study. The study recommends that the school authority should organize periodic sensitization programme on different exercises including Dance-exercise and Brisk-walking as means of improving fitness of obese students.
