    Proposed Mixed-use Building for Oyo State Government Ibadan, Nigeria (Sustainable Design Consideration in a Smart Mixed-Use Building)

    This study focuses on the crucial task of improving sustainable design consideration through smart mixed-use building. Sustainable design consideration is a key element in building cohesive and vibrant communities, where individuals from diverse backgrounds feel valued, respected, and empowered, However, A Smart Mixed-use building features multiple interconnected technology systems that collaborate and adapt to various requirements, utilizing integrated resource management. This approach offers advantages for user, owners, and the environment, as occupants enjoy a space tailored to their needs for comfort, health, security, and overall well-being. This study recognizes the significance of effective sustainable design consideration in addressing these challenges and aims to enhance environmental, social and economic value of the building. Case study approach was adopted in this research by evaluating four existing case study of mixed –use building comprising of three international and one local mixed –use building. These case studies were accessed based on sustainable design consideration identified from the empirical literature review, which includes, energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality and adaptability, accessibility and safety technology integration, collaboration and communication, and user experience. The findings showed that, by addressing the design consideration of the smart mixed – use. This research could decrease energy usage, such as electricity and heating, along with the related environmental effects, by implementing effective management and automated optimization techniques. The findings also revealed that, by consciously taking into considerations the design strategies when designing a mixed-use, inclusive mixed -use that serve as catalysts for social cohesion and empower individuals from all backgrounds to participate fully in community. In conclusion this study’s goal is to significantly enhance building automation system, integrate sustainable design in Ibadan and Nigeria as a whole.
