dc.description.abstract | The printing industry is grappling with escalating production costs and sustainability challenges, threatening its growth and survival. Factors such as rising prices of raw materials, high import duties on equipment, unreliable power supply, and limited access to modern technologies have significantly increased operational expenses. The study examined Printers' Perception on Cost of Production and Sustainability of Printing Industry in Osun State. The Cost-Benefit Analysis and Rationale Choice Theory provided the theoretical framework for the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted, and 400 respondents were randomly selected as sample. A self-structured questionnaire was used to gather data. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that majority (54.3%) of respondents strongly agreed that raw materials constitutes a major cost, emphasizing its essential role in printing activities. Similarly, labor costs were highlighted by the majority of respondents (65.7%) strongly agreeing that it significantly impacts the total costs incurred by printers. Findings also revealed that majority (51.4%) of respondents strongly agreed that transportation and logistics was the most significant cost incurred. Findings revealed that majority (54.3%) of respondents agreed that government policies and regulations were considered the most influential factor that affects cost of production. The study recommends Printers should invest in cost-effective technologies to improve operational efficiency, reduce long-term costs, and enhance competitiveness. Printing businesses should invest in training and development programs to enhance workforce skills, improving productivity and offsetting higher labor costs.
