dc.description.abstractThis research work focuses on the Personnel Management and Performance of National Arts Theatre, Lagos, Nigeria. The study was to proffer solutions to the challenges of personnel management and performance of the National Arts Theatre, Lagos. The objectives of the study included the assessment of the operation of the personnel management, examination of the challenges of personnel management, determination of the personnel management and provision of solutions to better personnel management practices. The data for the study was collected through textbooks, journals, questionnaire, interviews and structured questions. Description content analysis was used to analyze the transcribed data using the theoretical frameworks of findings the study. The findings from the study included the festival of Arts and Culture in 1977 has been the most successful and sponsored festival in the National Arts Theatre, there is under funding of the programmes of the National Arts Theater by government, the National Arts theatre lacks adequate infrastructural facilities before the revamping, there is need to appoint more professional as the Management/administrative staff members out-numbered the professional-staff members and there is need to change the extent organogram as it centres on the administrative/management staff of the organization. As solutions to the findings, some recommendations were made, such as the National Arts Theatre should be left in the hands of professional Theatre managers, the programmes of the National Arts Theatre should be advertised through the multi-media, the extant organogram of the National Arts Theatre is centered on management staff and should be replaced with a new one centered on the professional staff, the revamping of the National Arts Theatre should be holistic in terms of physical structure, infrastructural amenities, personnel management and the National Arts Theatre should be sustained for preservation, presentation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Nigeria.
