Oguntokun; O. O AyodeleThe study identified factors in their hierarchies that are responsible for ethical decision making in property management. Data was collected from sixty-eight (68) registered estate surveying and valuation firms and eighteen (18) of other property development companies for the study through structured questionnaires. Descriptive and inferential statistical tools such as frequency tables, mean score, relative important index (RII) and ANOVAwere used in analysing data. The study revealed that real estate managers are usually confronted with ethical decision making in the areas of honesty, integrity, duty of obedience to clients as well as respect for existing and potential client. Five environmental factors were identified as potential influencers of ethical decision making among the respondents. Among estate surveying and valuation firms (ESVF) and among other property management companies (PMC) in Ibadan metropolis, the legal and social environments were identified as the Strongest environmental factors influencing ethical decision while the individual professional environment was the least factor across board. Finally, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) test revealed that the respondents are similar in their ethical decision making in property management practice. F (1, 16) =1.8749, P > 0.05.Therefore, real estate managers in Ibadan metropolis must be upright in their ethical decision making for improved property management practice.Item Assessing Cultural Limitations and Discrimination Factors on United Nations Declaration On Girls-Child Rights on Student's Academic Achievement in Ondo West Local Government(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Mary Mojirade AYANTUNJI; Abimbola Fikayo OLANIRAN; Seyifunmi Damilola BADEMOSIItem Assessing the Effectiveness of Environmental Planning in Promoting Sustainable Urban Landscape A Case Study of Abeokuta, Ogun State(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) IKUGBE Cyril E; HASSAN Shehu T; BANJO Adeolu VThis study aims to determine how successful environmental planning is in fostering sustainable urban landscapes in Abeokuta, Ogun State. However, available evidence suggests a low level of institutional repository use among academic staff in Nigerian universities. This study examines the role of multidimensional awareness on the use of institutional repositories. The study adopts a survey research method. The study population is made up of academic staff from Universities in Oyo and Osun state. A multistage sampling procedure is adopted to select 235 lecturers. The research instrument is a structured questionnaire adapted from the Endsley's Situational Awareness Theory (SAT). Data collected was analysed with the IBM SPSS software using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The results shows that while there is a high level of perception among the respondents, majority of the respondents demonstrated low level comprehension and projection, two dimensions, critical to the understanding of the true essence of institutional repositories. In addition, the test of hypothesis revealed that awareness has a significant influence on the use of institutional repositories among the respondents. The study concluded that, without raising full awareness about the mission and functions of institutional repositories, Nigerian tertiary institution and their staff will continue to miss out on the benefits of using institutional repositories. It was therefore recommended that institutional repository awareness programs should be practical oriented.Item Business Education For Sustainable Development(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Babatunde Joseph KOLASHIBusiness education is a branch of education that involves teaching the skills and operations of the business industry for sustainable development. In this study, academic integrity is examined, as it relates to global society. The value system of society is the key factor in building academic integrity, which will, in the long run, affect the quality of education for sustainable development. The question is, to what extent society affects academic integrity? This study applies the Virtue Theory of Ethics in a qualitative methodology of an evaluation research design, using a thematic analysis instrument to answer the question. In any society, certain things are compromised once the value system changes. To imbibe the culture of academic integrity, societal values must promote a system for such to thrive. If not, everyone wants things for the wrong reasons. This leads to a dearth of ability to perform, even innovative research. Then, all the values of academic integrity become scarce commodities, and it becomes difficult to cope with the required values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage whether as students, teachers, researchers, workers, or leaders; this affects the quality of education for innovative research and sustainable development. To imbibe the culture of academic integrity in everyone, societal values must change from just having a certificate to having the ability to perform duties innovatively as demanded by whatever the work requiresItem Conflict Resolution Strate Conflict Resolutiongies and Sustainable Peace through Dramatic Acts in “Abejoye” Film by Mike Bamiloye(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Adekunle Olusola OTUNLA; Olayemi AKANDEA peaceful society creates opportunities for both old and young, but conflicts do occur which require appropriate approaches towards peaceful coexistence. Aside conventional interventions approaches; film writers and producers have embarked on film projects that convey spiritual messages which promote conflict resolution which is in tandem with UN Sustainable Development Goal-16; that promote peaceful and inclusive societies. This has cultural implication as each race is defined by their unique language, the loss of which may mean such tribe has ceased to exist. This is a distinct possibility for indigenous languages in Nigeria unless effort is made to preserve them. In line with this, this study examines the influence of language framework and policy on the preservation of indigenous languages in Nigeria. The study adopts a mixed-method research design. Both questionnaire and interview will be used for the purpose of data collection. The population of the study consist of 150 primary school parents in three selected schools in Nigeria. Questionnaire was used for data collection of which 128 were returned making 85.3% return rate. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics, the hypothesis was tested using inferential statistics. The study found that majority (68%) of the parents were women. Majority 74 (57.8%) of children learnt to speak indigenous language by listening to his /her parents while majority 59 (46.1%) praise their children when they speak indigenous language. Family language frameworks has 2 significant (Adj.R =0.215, P=0.000) influence on language preservation. The study concluded that homes, parents are the best platforms for inculcating indigenous languages into children. It is there recommended that parents should encourage children in speaking indigenous language at home by speaking to them.Item Food Security and Sustainable Agricultural Development in Nigeria Through Healthy and Environmental Best Practices of Farmers(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Eunice Oluchi INNOCENT-ENEThis paper discussed sustainable food security in Nigeria through farmers' involvement in healthy and environmental best practices. Farmers' health directly correlates with productivity which results in food sufficiency and security. Engaging in healthy and environmental best practices improves health and supports farmers to stay healthy, enhances their attendance as well as productivity at work. This paper noted that one of the factors that cause unproductivity at work is ill-health; ill-health can result in presenteeism (workers who are physically present at work but not performing at their best); and absenteeism (workers not being present at work at all). The paper further argued that farmers' ill-health if not properly managed can result to food insecurity. To avert the incidence of food insecurity, farmers need to produce sufficient food and affordable for use by the people. The paper reasoned that sustainability can be enhanced by healthy and environmental practices of farmers in the course of food production. These practices are activities and lifestyles that can reduce ill-health and improve health of farmers; and activities that can reduce negative effects of agriculture on the environment. Due to farmers' poor personal health profiles, and ignorance to seek proper medical attention when the need arises, the paper concluded that that there is need to bring health literacy and environmental hygiene to the door steps of farmers; and advocated for health education through physical, environmental, reproductive as well as sexual health. The paper also suggested alternating bio-fertilizers and pesticides with chemical-fertilizer and pesticides to avoid over-use of chemicals on the farm. And also crop rotation, organic farming, conservative agriculture to alternate the highly chemicalized system of agriculture in practice at the moment.Item Girl-child Education: A Geniune Tool for Poverty Reduction and Inclusive Development(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Oluwole Olajide OGUNBANJOGirl-child education refers to the aspect of education that aims at developing the skill and knowledge of girls and women from all castes, races and backgrounds. In Nigeria, like many other developing countries, girl-child education has often been neglected due to deep-seated cultural beliefs and economic difficulties that cut across the land; from the North to the south and from the East to the West. This paper, therefore, examined girl-child education issues in relation to poverty reduction and development within the setting of Nigerian society. The rampancy, causes, implications and remedies were conspicuously highlighted with deliberate focus on girl-child education as a tool for its reduction as well as enhancing inclusive development amidst the persistent social problems facing the nation. The concept of girl-child education was explicitly discussed. Benefits and challenges facing girl-child education as well as implications for inclusive development were also discussed. The paper observed that Nigeria is still struggling to meet her set target of poverty-free nation despite several governments' efforts on girl-child education. The paper eventually offered appropriate solutions and recommended among others that government should aggressively invest in girl-child education by ensuring that girls and women have access to quality education for the much desired positive impacts on the larger economy and the overall inclusive development of the nation.Item Health Risk Assessment of Potentially Toxic Elements in Groundwater Samples within a Petroleum Depot Host Community in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Olumuyiwa Olumuyiwa OGUNLAJA; Oluwakemi Abiola AKINTOBI; Abdul Dimeji ISHOLAThe proximity of the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) Depot at Apata in Ibadan, Oyo State to human settlement in the Adebisi Layout area of Apata may lead to groundwater contamination which is the main source of potable water supply in this layout. Hence the need to assess the physicochemical status and concentrations of Potentially Toxic Elements (PTEs) in groundwater samples in this layout. The physicochemical status, as well as the concentrations of PTEs (Cd, Cr, Ni, Pb and Zn) in ten groundwater samples within the study area, were determined by standard methods and Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) respectively. The physicochemical parameters studied ranged -1 as follows: pH 6.64 - 7.38, temperature 27.2 - 29.2 °C, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) 0.99 - 1.60 mg L -1 and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) 1.05 - 1.65 mg L . The concentrations of heavy metals in groundwater samples were in decreasing order of Cd > Ni > Zn > Cr, with concentrations ranging from 0.04 - 0.31 mg -1 -1 -1 -1 L for Cd, 0.09 - 0.67 mg L for Cr, ND - 0.04 mg L for Zn and ND - 0.16 mg L for Ni. The concentration of Pb was below the detection limit. Data from the non-carcinogenic risks showed that groundwater consumption may lead to adverse health effects and unacceptable risks to the human health of the local inhabitants, but data from the carcinogenic risks assessment indicate no cancer risk.Item Impact of Internet Addiction on Academic Performance of Biology Students in Tertiary Institutions in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Rebecca Iyabo OGUNRINDE; Saudat Titilope ADEYANJU; Damilola Jumoke IBIYEMIIt has been observed that student's academic performance in Biology has not improved over the years in Nigeria Tertiary institutions. Both primary and secondary data were explored for the study. Primary data were sourced from the beneficiaries of the policy. Secondary data were sourced from lands registry Oyo state ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development's file, records and publications. In-Depth Interview were held with land registrar with the aid of questionnaire and information such as number of land transactions registered during the period 2017-2022 and transactions registered five years before tenure regularization policy intervention (2012-2016) were also sourced for the purpose of comparative analysis. Also, Focus Group Discussions and mobile data collection methods were used to collect information on demographic characteristics, their perceptions, tenure security and type of investment embarked upon after regularization, sources of funds and security for the fund sourced from financial institutions. One thousand beneficiaries were interviewed. However, 800 copies of questionnaire forms were retrieved for final analysis. The primary data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage tables. The formulated hypothesis was analyzed using Students' T-test statistics. The result showed that out of 800 respondents, the majority applied for loan 96% of the beneficiaries applied for loans from various financial institutions and 41% of the respondent invested on residential building, 17.5% on large scale agriculture and 8.9% on commercial. The collateral for the loan granted was the regularized titled documents. The findings also showed that there is significant difference in formal transaction registered in 2012-2016 and 2017-2022. The calculated t-value was 3.800 and critical t value was 1.900. Since the calculated t-value is greater than critical t-value (t-cal>t-critical) and p-value 0.04 is less than the level of significance 0.05, we reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis which state that there is statistical significant difference in land transaction registered between the two periods. Comparison of transaction between the periods shows that activities on formal transactions have increased by 133%. Hence, we can infer that to improve land transaction and investment, there will be need to improve the efficiency of land tenure regularization method.Item Impact of Press Freedom In 21st Century Changing Global Democracy: Study of Vanguard Media Limited(Lead City University Ibadan, 2023) Olaide Kehinde TAOFEEK; Francisco Akobi OKO; Samaila MANDEThe study examine the impact of press freedom in this rapidly changing global democracy in Vanguard Media Limited, Kirikiri, Apapa ,Lagos .The specific objective of this study is to establish the effect of press freedom in this changing global democracy.
