Abstract

Nigeria, like many other developing countries, is beset with environmental problems, these problems emanate mainly from human activities created in the quest to achieve a higher level of development. The implication is that sufficient precautions have not been taken to balance development objectives against the need to maintain desirable environmental quality for sustainable development by buying into the idea of responsive and simplified bureaucratic processes in dealing with citizens and businesses, hence this study investigated E-governance and Green Public Management for Sustainable Development in selected Agencies, Southwest, Nigeria. This study made use of primary data and adopted descriptive research design. The population was 340. The study used multistage sampling technique. Structured questionnaire and interviews (KII) were utilized for data collection of the study. Data generated were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24 (for the descriptive statistics) and SmartPLS version 3.3.9 (for the inferential statistics). A response rate of 97.4% was achieved for the selected employees. Findings revealed that E-governance implementation have significant and substantial effect on sustainable development on sustainable development with sufficient predictive quality (Adj R 2 =0.475, p=0.000, Q2 =0.195). Green Public Management has significant and substantial effect on sustainable development on sustainable development with predictive quality (Adj R2 =0.461, p=0.000, Q2 =0.207). E-governance and green public management has significant and substantial joint effect on sustainable development with sufficient predictive quality (Adj R2 =0.542, p=0.000, Q2 = 0.244) in the selected agencies, Southwest, Nigeria. This study concluded that e- governance and green public management has effect on sustainable development in the selected agencies, Southwest, Nigeria and recommended that government agencies should build institutional linkages across multiple governmental agencies that promote interconnectedness and strengthens the implementation of e-governance in public agencies among various socioeconomic and environmental activities across the country.
